Mira Power Limited CEO Mr. Min Byeong Soo and COO Mr. Sultan Ahmed participated in a panel discussion on Hydropower ‘Pak Power, Progress and Way Forward’ organized by Jang/GEO Media Group.
Mr. Min responding to a question on Mira Power & KOEN said that Gulpur Hydropower Project is the flagship project of KOEN owns and maintain 10000 MW capacities worldwide. KOEN own 76% shares and is financed by International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank and Korea Exim Bank. The Project achieved financial closing in October 2015 and to date 55% construction is complete. Expected COD of the Project is August 2019.
Mr. Sultan to a question said that KOEN under its vision 2025 is committed to bring USD 3 billion investment in Pakistan with its special focus on hydropower out of which about 2000MW will be in overseas. Owing to the success of Gulpur Hydropower Project and the robust policy of Pakistan, KOEN has identified Pakistan as a priority market and has already planned to significantly invest in hydro power sector of Pakistan to help Pakistani people reduce the power shortage and crisis in the country. KOEN has been recently awarded two new projects i.e. 215MW Asrit kedam and 197MW Kalam Asrit.
Federal Minister for Power Division Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Government officials including MD PPIB Shah Jahan Mirza dignitaries from countries, the ambassadors of the United States, China, Germany and Turkey also took part in the seminar.
